1722 · Yuanmingyuan Artisan Legacy: The Imperial Encounter.

In the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty, the Imperial Workshops selected verdant sandalwood from Southeast Asian tributes to carve beams for the "Universal Harmony" Hall in Yuanmingyuan. Discovering remnants with landscape painting-like grains, craftsmen fused them with Kunlun-mined white quartz, creating court beads symbolizing "Wood-Stone Harmony".

One strand, documented in the Imperial Household Archives, now inspires this revival: Verdant sandalwood beads embedded with white quartz discs. A replica was gifted to the Palace Museum's "Craftsmanship Eternal" exhibition, embodying a dialogue between traditional artistry and modern aesthetics.
